Alcohol in pregnancy and when trying to concieve


There’s always been varying advice about how much alcohol a woman is allowed to drink in pregnancy. Some say having up to a couple of glasses of wine a week is acceptable.

The most recent advice published by the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists indicate that abstinence from alcohol is the only way to be certain a baby will not be harmed.

Their advice extends to those trying to conceive as damage could be done in that initial period before the woman finds out she is pregnant.

So in summary, if you’re pregnant or trying to conceive, abstain from any form of alcohol.
